The Manchester Makerspace Credit System is intended to foster more collaboration and support in maintaining the facilities and extending our community reach.
It works by giving each member a credit for participation in cleanup / organizing sessions, previously approved tasks, and Makerspace events. Each of these events / activities will be identified as ones that grant a credit. They will be tracked by a publicly accessible spreadsheet. In the case of cleanup / organizing sessions, the shop managers or their designee will keep track of what members contributed. Organizers for the Makerspace events will keep track of members that have participated.
At the end of the calendar year, each member’s credits are tallied. Members that have accumulated the request number of credits at year’s end have fulfilled their obligation to the space. If a member has accumulated more than the requisite number of credits at year’s end, they may roll the extra credits over to the following year. If they do not have the requisite number credits, they will be required to purchase the short fall by the end of the month of January of the following year at a price of $10 / credit.
Nominally, each member that has been in good standing at the beginning of the year is expected to accumulate 8 credits by year’s end. The following is the pro-rated number of credits members are expected to have at year’s end if they have not been a member for the full year:
